Interliga 2010: After Match Day 2

América begs questions of Copa Libertadores potential while Puebla books a place in next Wednesday's finals after the second match day of Interliga 2010 play.

Against an Atlante side that impressed by winning while a man down on Saturday, América continued their dominance with three second half goals, including a brace from Salvador Cabañas.  Final: 3-0.

Also in Group A, El Pony Ruíz and Tecos moved into second place thanks to a 2-0 win over a disappointing and dispirited Santos.

Puebla scored the first goal of the tournament against Jaguares in down Chiapas, 1-0, while Monterrey got a fortunate, stoppage-time goal to get a point from rival Tigres, 1-1.

Interliga 2010 Update:  After Match Day 2

And the lingering issues on my mind, after the mid-week matches:

  1. Has anybody played better than Daniel Montenegro?
  2. Given how important his insertion into the starting XI was, what can Tecos do if El Pony can't manage the four day turnaround?
  3. Is Cabañas out of his funk, after the brace?
  4. Do you see Monterrey "flipping the switch" against América, if they advance?

Suazo to Zaragoza

is gonna eliminate any chance of Monterrey beating America. Finally Suazo is gonna receive the international (European mostly, in this side of the ocean we know how good he is) attention he deserves.

I saw that ...

… late last night. I think it’s a great fit tactically for Humberto, and the €10m price I saw was about right.

Suazo didn’t play on Wednesday. Now we know why.

That price was just too much for Monterrey to ignore for somebody of his age.
