John Terry

Call me naive. Call me heartless. I just don't get the John Terry flap. I'm not condoning his actions, but I don't see why he shouldn't wear the armband. He cheated on his wife with a teammates "girlfriend". Oh the horror. Have the national team players indicated that they won't follow his lead?  It's 2010. Today's professional athletes aren't the same as the one's from the 1950's. Many lead lives normal people can't and won't understand. Either Terry can still lead the English squad or he can't. The simple fact that he isn't a good husband or friend shouldn't disqualify him from wearing the armband.

Annoyed rant over.

I Disagree

Don’t underestimate the importance of psychology’s impacts on a squad’s performance. Having a douche like Terry be your captain after he screwed over Wayne Bridge so badly can really damage a team. And Soccer is very much a team sport. They can’t rely on individuals like you can in baseball.

You can change your job, you can change your wife, you can even change your gender, but you can never change your club.

I really think the Captain is overrated by the fans and media.

We’re not dealing with inexperienced kids at this level, we’re dealing with top professionals. These guys don’t need one guy that gets to wear an armband to make them a better team, this whole flap is really making a distraction where there doesn’t need to be.

Let's try one

of them Aristotle syllogism thingies.

1) All team captains should be honorable and respected by the other players.
2) John Terry screwed his teammate’s girlfriend. In addition, he’s a lout and a chav.

Therefore

3) John Terry should not be the captain.

It's pronounced Poo-ZHOLS in Catalan.
